Abdication

Abdication

Filling up a needy person’s cup is exhausting.
It is more of a job than one person can manage.
It takes a team.

When one person leaves the team it is truly a problem.
Chaos ensues.

My dad died.
That is how he left the team.
But what can be done about that?
He is relegated to hero status.

I just plain opted out.
Deserted.
AWOL.
Quit.

The team does not look kindly on those who do such things.
And as a life-long team member, I judge myself as well.

But I am exhausted.
There are new cups to be filled now.
Most importantly,
my own.
