Fever Dream

Fever Dream

Outside my window
raindrops softly pat
a deluge of tears
unquestioning sadness
from an unapologetic sky

Inside my window
a cat
sprawled out on the sill
green eyes shut
giving zero fucks

Under my blanket
with yet another illness
my body seems to molder
tissues close
to manage the detritus

Behind my eyes
dreams call themselves forth
relentlessly
nagging
to be released

Beside my bed
a computer
a blank page
an empty stage
waiting to be filled
