You are always in charge

Unless you don’t want to be.

But if something doesn’t go right

you will lead from the back,

aggressively.

Your aim is to be noticed.

When you perceive you aren’t, 

you will do whatever it takes to be.

Humor, meant to soften,

is your sharp knife.

Jealousy poisons your blood regularly.

You expertly take others down

without leaving a mark.

You admire your work;

this is your craft.

Others either make your grade

or suffer your judgment.

Berating others makes you 

feel stronger.

It shines the image in the mirror.

If you can’t 

take a challenger down head-on,

you will work tirelessly 

on their smear campaign;

tearing them down to anyone who will listen

You are a magician.  

You can make others do anything

if it will calm the storm that is you.

If it will stave off your tyranny,

your cloaked rage.

You must be tired.

All of this for so long

to hide the frightened child

still alive underneath it all,

waiting to be free
