Pain

My constant companion

you are at your best 

when you are quiet

when you keep to yourself

snoozing

You are at your worst

when you wake up

and want to be noticed

loud, obnoxious, 

unrelenting 

Today you demand 

to be waited on constantly

you disturb my sleep

dictate my movements

run roughshod over my moods

I have no choice

but to do your bidding

you are brutal but capricious 

if I do all you ask 

you may settle down again.

This is my hope.
