For What It’s Worth
Sometimes you don’t really know what you need
Sometimes you have to forfeit to succeed
When the cut goes deep, you’ll find that you bleed
This is what I know
for what it’s worth
Haters will hate, pleasers will please
too much compromising does not bring ease
guard your own soul, create what you believe
This is what I’ve learned
for what it’s worth
Friendships can wane, blood can sour
People turn evil when they get too much power
The real ones always pick up, no matter the hour
I know this from suffering
for what it’s worth
And the highs are so high
and are hard to come by
and the lows come too, in good supply
I’ve learned not to hang on too tight to either
for what it’s worth
Anger erupts and tears flow
disappointment crushes and pride grows
sometimes the best thing is to just let go
Pain has been my greatest teacher
for what it’s worth
When laughter is shared
and arguments repaired
when souls combine, nothing can be compared
That is the sweetness of life
for what it’s worth
Learning to love, that’s the goal
one minute you’re calm, then out of control
but in the sum of it all, it will make you feel whole
It has been my life’s greatest gift
for what it’s worth
